A Northgate Park, like Rancho San Rafael, would be a great asset to our NW Reno community. It would protect our quality of life and property values. I support creating the park using a SAD that includes the following elements: 1. A tiered fee struc…

Confusion over SAD proposals as reported in Oct 20 RGJ article

The RGJ ran an article describing the October 19 meeting at Somersett. In the third paragraph of the October 20 RGJ article, I think the proposal being described ($37 or $15 per month) is actually the Rowland proposal not the McCutcheon proposal (as the article states).

Help and Come to Tuesday's Meeting

ALERT
Tuesday (8/25/09) afternoon at 5:15 the County Commissioners will be deciding whether or not to proceed with the purchase of the Northgate golf course property for the benefit of the neighborhood. The appraisal has come in at $2,850,000, which is what the County would have to pay, which is well below the $4,500,000 asking price, and considering the economy, probably the cheapest it will ever be. Three of the five Commissisoners could vote against it. If we want them to vote for it, we need… Continue

Northgate Golf Course

On May 12th around 1:30 pm Northgate received the death blow. The course, which was voted the best new public golf course in American in the late 80's, hosted a Ben Hogan tour even, was scheduled to host an USGA event before the drought brought that hope to an end, was closed for good, with a unanimous vote to not consider it being run as a golf course. As it returns to the way it once was, may the memories of all that it could have been not be soon forgotten.

This may be the plan that saves Northgate

letter removed once they voted no to a golf course

Please read the attached letter.

Mike Mazzafferri is contacting Dave Aiazzi to get the more information. We will set up a meeting as soon as we know this required information. Please print and distribute this letter until we know what action to take next.

Recent Happenings - April 22, 2009

Sorry I haven't updated anything lately, I have had no news. I am trying to get the DVD of the County's discussion of April 21. I just this second got permission from the Reno City Council to allow staff to work on the costs of maintenance of the property (as I promised the County Commission).
I sure didn't like what I read in the paper but I learned a long time ago that the paper doesn't have enough room to print the WHOLE story so I am waiting to see it myself.
